The European union (origin)

The flag of the European union is constituted of a circle closed of 12 golden stars. These 12 yellow stars never represented the 12 countries of Europe, their number 12 expresses the symbol of the perfection.

The origin of the Europe word probably comes from the Phoenician "Ereb" that meant "dark, the west".

In Greek, the "Europe" word means: "big eyes". In the Greek mytologie, the "Europe" word designated a young and beautiful Phoenician girl, removed by Zeus, initially.
